Vietnam Post and United Stated Postal Service promote bilateral cooperation

In addition to the promotion of bilateral cooperation, the two countries' postal Administrations are pursuing the UPU's goals of developing cross border E-commerce services to meet the needs of the E-commerce market, especially small E-commerce package delivery in Vietnam market and US market.

In order to concretize the above mentioned targets, on May 14, 2015, at the USPS Head Office, in the presence of Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Pham Anh Tuan and Deputy Postmaster General and Chief Government Relations Officer, Mr. Ron Stronman, Representative of Vietnam Post Ms. Chu Thi Lan Huong – Executive Vice President and Representative of USPS, Ms. Franca Davis – Managing Director of Global Business signed a Collaborative Action Plan Work for Cooperation in the field of Postal Services and an Agreement for the Electronic Exchange of Customs Data. Vietnam Post and USPS also agreed to set up a Working Group so that two sides shall reach the contents defined by the signed Agreements at the soonest.

Representatives of the two Posts signed Agreements for promotion of bilateral cooperation.

According to the volumes exchanged between Vietnam Post and USPS, USPS also gave Vietnam Post some recommendation as follows: USPS encourages Vietnam Post to join the PRIME tracked Agreement, as USPS and Vietnam Post are both member of PRIME; Move forward in an EMS Pay for Performance (PfP) agreement, with potential for incentives on the item rate based on the provision of Electronically Advanced Data (EAD); Vietnam Post explores the adoption of the UPU ECOMPRO product, which has several benefits related to the rate and services provided. Besides, USPS shall explore any additional considerations presented by Vietnam Post to reach an agreeable state for both Postal Operators.

Within the framework of the working visit to the US, Vietnam Post’s Delegation has paid an onsite visit to airmail unit at John Frank Kenedy airport – New York to check mail handling over from Vietnam to US and meeting with its partners in US: Cathay Pacific and Indo Trans Logistics.
