The 27th UPU Congress ended successfully amidst Covid-19 pandemic

The closing session of Plenary was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Mr. Patrick Jerome Achi. Also attending were Ambassadors of member countries participating in the Congress.

Throughout the sessions of Plenary, the member countries came to agreement with important documents which were discussed and approved at the sessions of the Congress such as: Abidjan Postal Strategy, Convention, General Regulations, Postal Payments Agreement, decisions and resolutions of the Congress relating to the action program of the permanent bodies of the Union...

Resigning after two terms, former UPU Director General Mr. Bisha Hussein sincerely thanked his colleagues in the International Bureau and member countries for their support during his tenure. He also congratulated the new UPU General Director Mr. Masahiko Metoki, the new UPU Deputy General Director Mr. Marjan Osvald and hoped that the two new leaders would soon overcome the difficult times and bring about many successes in the 2021-2025 term.

At the end of the Conference, delegates from the United Arab Emirates expressed their appreciation to the UPU and its member countries for trusting and choosing Dubai city as the venue for the 28th UPU Congress.
