Application of digital tools to diversify delivery methods


Delivery at the address is still the favorite method of most customers because of its convenience, speed and maximum time savings. In the complicated context of Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam Post still maintains delivery at addresses method with the highest safety. Postal items are regularly disinfected, 100% of postmen are monitored body temperature, health status and wear masks in the working process.

Beside its convenience, delivery at addresses has also its disadvantages when customers may be not active to receive their items according to delivery route and schedule of the postmen. As a result, they cannot receive items because they are not present at that time. To overcome this disadvantage, Vietnam Post offers customers the option of receiving goods at the service points. Customers can register or contact with the postmen that the receiving address is the nearest post office and actively come to receive their items during the working time of the post office.

Especially, after the pilot period, Vietnam Post will implement 30 Smart Lockers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Nghe An, etc. in December 2021, providing customers with a proactive, contactless 24/7 delivery experience. Postmen will deliver items to the addresses of smart lockers registered by the customers. When the items arrive in the smart lockers, the customers will receive messengers containing the OTP code used to open the smart lockers to receive their items and pay online via e-wallet at the registered smart lockers. In this way, the recipient will be completely active to arrange time and place to pick up the items according to their most convenience and personal schedule.

In complicated context of the Covid-19 pandemic, Smart lockers are considered as a contactless delivery solution, contributing to effective public health safety. Through smart lockers, customers can receive their items without contacting with postmen or postal staff. The process of receiving items with entering the code, paying, opening the smart lockers, picking up the items take a few minutes, helping minimize the transaction time for customers. 

With modern functions, Smart lockers is expected to shape new, proactive and convenient receiving habits for customers, especially for groups of recipients in buildings, offices, apartments, urban areas.
